州知事が公立のプリスクール制度導入を発表

 ハワイ州のニール・アバクロンビー知事は昨日、ハワイ州内の子どもの学力向上のため、今年8月より、州内の公立校にプリスクールを開校する予定であると発表した。 当局が開校を予定している公立のプリスクールは、オアフ島に15校、マウイ島、モロカイ島、ラナイ島に1校ずつ、カウアイ島に2校、そしてハワイ島に10校の計30校で、当局ではプリスクールの設置場所の選出理由として、校区の貧困率や学校施設のスペースなどを考慮して決定したとしている。 今回当局が開校を予定している公立プリスクールに通学できるのは、州内に住む640名ほどの4歳児で、当局では、通学できる640名の選出方法などに関しては発表していないものの、低所得者世帯の子どもが優先的に入学できるとみられている。
