 ハワイ諸島上空では今夜、月全体が地球の影に隠れる皆既月食が起こることになっており、天候に恵まれた場合には月の色が赤銅色に変化する「赤い月(ブラッドムーン)」が観測できる。 今夜の皆既月食は、ハワイ時間18:53ごろよりスタートするものの、月食が確認できるのは19:58過ぎで、月が地球の影にすっぽり隠れるのは21:06~22:24の間になると予想されている。 なお、ハワイ大学の天文学部が、オアフ島のカピオラニ公園とカフク市立図書館で月食鑑賞会を実施するほか、ビショップ博物館でも今夜20:00~23:00に月食鑑賞会を実施するとしている。

確定申告で州内26の郵便局がサービスを延長

 米郵政公社は、全米の確定申告(タックスリターン)の締切日である明日15日(火)に、州内26の郵便局で、郵便の最終回収時間を延長して対応にあたると発表した。 州内の郵便局では、カウンターでの営業時間は通常通りとなるものの、カウンターの営業時間終了後も、郵便局の外などにオレンジのサインで「Tax Mail Drop」と書いたドロップボックスが設置され、深夜12時に最終ピックアップが行われる。 なお、州内でもっとも遅くまで営業を行っているホノルル空港の郵便局の営業時間は20:00までとなっている。
