 ハワイ州で2番目の規模を誇っているモロカイ島のモロカイ牧場が、草そのものや草からつくられたエサである粗飼料のみを食べさせて育てているモロカイ産の牛の肉の販売を今秋から行うと発表した。  モロカイ牧場では現在、牧場の再建計画を積極的に進めており、今回のモロカイ牛の販売はモロカイ牧場だけでなく、島全体の経済復興のための新たな起爆剤になると期待されている。 モロカイ牧場の牛は、約30,000エーカーの牧草地で育てられているアンガス牛で、モロカイ牧場では今後、州内にあるオーガニック系のレストランやスーパーマーケットなど、厳選された市場でのモロカイ牛の販売を行いたいとしている。
