ナナクリ地区に新図書館を建設

ハワイ州当局は、オアフ島ナナクリ地区で建設計画が進められている新図書館の建設費用として、1550万ドルを支出すると発表した。 ナナクリ地区には図書館がなく、同地区住民が図書館を利用する際には、同地区から8マイルほど離れたワイアナエ図書館か7マイルほど離れたカポレイ図書館を利用する必要があった。 なお、今年度末までには図書館建設の工事がスタートし、工事着工後1年以内には新図書館が完成する見込みとなっている。

剣玉選手権開催

 オアフ島ワード地区にあるニール・ブレイズデル・センターで、ハワイ州内で爆発的な人気となっている剣玉の選手権大会が開催される。 26日(月)のメモリアルデーの13:00~18:00に開催される選手権大会では、あらゆる年齢層が参加可能で、参加者は、1対1または4対4で剣玉の腕前を競うこととなる。なお、勝者にはトロフィーや剣玉のほか、豪華景品が進呈される。
