ホノルル市のカーク・コールドウェル市長は昨日、オアフ島東部にあるココヘッド射撃場の開放時間を延長すると発表した。 ココヘッド射撃場は島内唯一の公共の射撃場で、州内の銃器登録率の上昇に伴い、射撃場の利用者も毎日200人ほどと以前の2倍ほどにまで膨れ上がっており、市民から射撃場の開放時間延長に関する要望が出されていた。 射撃場の開放時間延長は今週の水曜日より実施され、水曜日から金曜日が正午から午後4時、土曜日と日曜日は午前8時から午後4時までとなる。

オアフ島のカカアコ・ウォーターパークで昨日、市民ボランティアによるビーチ清掃作業が行われ、約100名の市民が参加した。 昨日の清掃作業ではタバコの吸殻1本につき5セントがサーフライダー財団に寄付されることになっており、関係者は、最終的に11,176本分のタバコの吸殻が集まり、財団には$588が寄付されたとしている。
