Franklin Schowengerdt, regarded as a visionary leader of space research programs in Hawaii, has died of cancer in Alexandria, Va. He was 77. Schowengerdt, a physicist and former program director at NASA, was the founding director of the Pacific International Space Center for Exploration Systems, also known as PISCES.

 ハワイ州内での撮影が予定されているハリウッドの人気作品「ジュラシックパーク」の4作目となる「ジュラシック・ワールド」では、作品に出演するキャストのオーディションを今日10:00より開催している。 今日10:00から16:30まで、オアフ島のマプナプナ地区にあるオレオ・コミュニティ・センターで開催中のオーディションでは、男女を問わず幅広い年齢層の出演者を募集しているものの、特に、 6~17歳の子どもがいる家族、6~15歳の双子、そして軍関係者に見える人物が求められている。 なお、ジュラシックワールドの撮影は4月にスタートし、来年度中の劇場公開が予定されている。

タンゴ・マーケットがクローズ

 オアフ島のワードセンター内で約3年間にわたって営業を続けてきたタンゴ・マーケットが、金曜日を最後に閉店した。 タンゴ・マーケットのオーナー兼シェフのゴラン・シュトレング氏は閉店について「リース契約の更新を行わなかったため」とのみコメントしている。 なお、ホクアビル内にあるタンゴ・マーケットの姉妹店であるタンゴ・コンテンポラリー・カフェは、今後も営業を続ける。
