高波警報発令中
州の危機管理室は、カウアイ島、オアフ島、モロカイ島の北岸と西岸、そしてマウイ島の北岸に高波が到達する可能性が高いとして高波警報を発令している。 当局側は、土曜日の午前6時までに、カウアイ島の西岸とオアフ島、モロカイ島、マウイ島の北岸に到達する波の高さは20~25フィートほどになるほか、オアフ島とモロカイ島の西岸では波の高さが15~20フィートほどになると予想。市民に対して、水際には近づかないように注意を促している。 なお、オアフ島のノースショア地区には昨日の時点で高さ8~12フィートの高波が到達。昨日だけで1,115件の警告がライフガードから発せられたほか、9人が救出されている。

押収物品のオークションを実施
州当局は昨日、犯罪などに利用されたとして当局が押収、保管していた物品を、公開オークションで売却処分すると発表した。なお、押収物品の売却によって得られる利益は、州や市当局の法執行機関の経費として活用される。 オークションは今週土曜日にオアフ島のニール・ブレイズデル・センターで開催される予定で、オークションの開始は正午となっているものの、落札希望者は午前11時よりオークション対象アイテムのチェックをすることができる。
