ハワイアンなデザインの航空機がお目見え

 アラスカ航空は昨日、オアフ島カイザー高校に在籍しているアーロン・ネー君のデザインが描かれたハワイアンな航空機のお披露目を行った。 アラスカ航空では、ハワイ州の子ども達を対象に機体のデザインコンテスト実施し、ポリネシアの人々が最初にカヌーでハワイ諸島に到着した様子や黄色のハイビスカス、ハワイ諸島など、ハワイらしいデザインが施されたボーイング787-800が登場することとなった。 アラスカ航空が今回実施した機体デザインコンテストには、州内から2,700の応募があり、優勝者のネー君には、5,000ドルの奨学金とアラスカ航空の4人分の航空券が贈呈されている。

ダイヤモンドヘッド世界不思議サイトにノミネート

 オアフ島の人気観光スポットとして知られるダイヤモンドヘッドが、virtualtourist.comが実施する「第8回世界不思議バーチャルサイト・コンテスト」の候補にノミネートされたことが明らかになった。 オアフ島観光局は「ダイヤモンドヘッドは文化的にも歴史的にも重要なランドマークで、世界的に知られたハワイのシンボルのひとつでもあります」とし、ダイヤモンドヘッドがコンテストのタイトルを獲得すべく、ぜひ投票を行ってほしいと呼びかけている。 なお、今回のコンテストには世界中から200のサイトがノミネートされており、9月30日まで投票の受付が行われている。コンテストの投票はこちら>>
